Health and Safety Policy

How we protect our people, our clients and members of the public.

Our commitment

Barbarian Facilities Management Limited is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for every employee, contractor, client and member of the public affected by our work. We aim to meet or exceed our duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the regulations made under it, including the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.

Who this applies to

This policy applies to all directors, managers, officers, cleaners, marshals, handlers and office staff, and to any subcontractor working on our behalf at any client site.

What we do

  • Carry out written risk assessments for every site and role before work begins, and review them when circumstances change
  • Provide induction, site-specific briefings and role-appropriate training, including conflict management, manual handling and emergency procedures
  • Supply suitable personal protective equipment, communication equipment and lone-working arrangements where needed
  • Make sure vehicles, equipment, cleaning chemicals and working-at-height activities are used safely and in line with COSHH requirements
  • Plan for fire, first aid and emergency evacuation at every location we operate

Reporting and investigation

Every accident, injury, near miss, dangerous occurrence and act of violence must be reported to a manager as soon as possible and recorded. We investigate promptly, put corrective action in place and report to the Health and Safety Executive where required under RIDDOR.

Responsibilities

Directors hold overall responsibility for health and safety and for providing the resources needed to meet this policy. Managers and supervisors are responsible for putting it into practice at site level. Every member of staff must take reasonable care of themselves and others, follow instructions and training, and report hazards.

Review

We review this policy at least once a year, and after any significant incident or change in legislation.

Last reviewed: October 2026. Questions about this policy can be sent to info@barbarianfm.co.uk.
